Overscaig House Hotel Overscaig House Hotel

Food & Wine

Sample the best of highland produce in the quiet atmosphere of our dining room ... that's if we can distract you from the breathtaking view!

Our chef, David Paine, is well known in the region for his culinary skills - and he has a long history with the hotel. David's family used to own the hotel more than 20 years ago - so coming to work at The Overscaig was like coming home.

David has added a touch of flair to our menu - combining his love of Scottish ingredients with the experience of French cuisine. Both bar and restaurant menus feature North Highland venison, Aberdeen Angus beef, fresh haddock from Kinlochbervie as well as west coast shellfish. Complete your meal with our home-made ice-cream, superb bread & butter pudding or delicious local cheeses. Wherever possible we buy local produce to ensure that our food is of the highest quality and has the freshest ingredients.

We stock wines that we really enjoy and we have an excellent supplier in Inverarity Vaults who were the Restaurant Supplier of the Year in 2005! We do hold a limited range of classic Old World wines as well as some excellent wines from the New. The "Auld" world gives us the "Scoatish" fruit wines from Cairn o'Mohr which will surprise you with their depth of flavour.

Your appetite truly sated - relax with coffee or tea in our lounge while you prepare yourself for tomorrow's adventures in Sutherland.

Eat Safe at the OverscaigThe Overscaig has been given the Eatsafe award. This is a new hygiene standard examining the food hygiene and food saftey management practices adopted by the hotel and is awarded for excellence. The Overscaig is pleased to be among the first to be given this award.
